When I was pregnant with my son Braydon I decided it was important to switch my entire house over to safer cleaning and personal care products.  Being pregnant I was instantly aware of all the dangerous chemicals surrounding me.  I started researching everything from my cleaners to my makeup.  I found a very helpful website www.ewg.org/skindeep  which contains a search database called Skin Deep.  There you can plug in the name of the product you use and the site will rank it and its ingredients on a scale of 1-10 in toxicity.  This website was very eye opening to me.  I quickly learned keywords to watch out for in products like "fragrance", which is in many personal care products and ranks around a 7-9 on the toxicity scale.  I was shocked when I read that anything that we put on our skin can reach our blood stream in as little as 20 seconds! I was even more shocked to read the study linked below that shows fetal cord blood containing over 200 different chemicals contaminating the baby's blood even before birth. http://www.ewg.org/minoritycordblood/BPA-cordbloodpollution

Armed with my new found knowledge I began to switch over to safer products.  The first switch and purchase I made was a Get Clean Kit from Shaklee.  The kit I ordered allowed me to replace all my hazardous cleaning products with good for the earth safe products.   I did not stop there, I slowly read through each label of all our personal care products. After reading what was in the products I decided to switch them all.  I continue to read labels and look for safe options and I still refer to the EWG skin deep site frequently.  Thankfully my mother Tammy (who is an expert in skin care) has helped me research and find effective, safe skin care products.  Our favorite find is the %100 Pure line.  We not only personally use these products but Tammy uses them in all her facial treatments at our office as well.  Check out our shelves at the office we have these and a variety of our other favorite personal care products available.
